Awards for Excellence in Waste Reduction in the Circular Economy
Each year the HSPB screens tenant companies for the Awards for Excellence in Waste Reduction in the Circular Economy to encourage them to address waste disposal properly and secure resources from recycling. An evaluation committee comprising scholars and experts is responsible for identifying tenant companies that have done well in recycling and circular use of resources. Awardees are to be commended when the HSP holds its anniversary celebration.

Promote Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction
Guidance on Carbon Reduction
In 2009, the HSPB began to provide tenant companies with guidance on energy conservation and carbon reduction, thereby enhancing energy efficiency. Such guidance was offered to 10 companies in 2022; their combined mitigation potential in power consumption and carbon emissions amounted to 11,879,058 kWh/year and 6,046.4 tons of CO2e per year respectively. In addition to conducting follow- up checks to determine if such guidance has paid off, the HSPB also makes it a point to offer more related training, screen for outperformers on this front, organize events for sharing energy conservation experiences, and strengthen electricity use audits.
2022 Achievement Awards for Carbon Reduction in Science Parks
In 2022, the National Science and Technology Council launched the Achievement Awards for Carbon Reduction in Science Parks to encourage tenant companies to seek innovation in carbon reduction and make a paradigm for domestic and overseas industries accordingly. Of the HSP’s nine companies enrolling in the selection, AUO Corp. came out top in Group A and Coretronic Corp. ranked No. 1 in Group B.
On top of installing F-gases destruction and removal equipment across its fabs, AUO adopts smart technology to decrease the use of such gases, thereby greatly reducing GHG emissions. Meanwhile, an ESG and climate committee is charged with accelerating low-carbon migration. Its RE100, SBT, and net zero by 2050 commitments attest to the company’s clearly defined carbon reduction path. Moreover, AUO has rallied key suppliers to aim for a carbon reduction of at
