2 Prospective Planning for the Longtan Park's Phase III Expansion
Demand among tenant companies remains strong while land supply is running out in the Longtan Park. After a joint initial survey by the HSPB and the Taoyuan City government and interagency consultations, the Executive Yuan tentatively determined that its expansion was feasible. Former Premier Su Tseng-chang announced the official start of the Longtan Park’s expansion project after an inspection of the park on November 3, 2022.
The HSPB is now called upon to draft and present a pilot plan to the Executive Yuan. With Cabinet approval, it will then go on to conduct a feasibility study and ready a preparatory plan in accordance with the Operation
Directions for Establishing and Expanding Science Parks, Operation Directions for Science Park Development and Expansion, and Policy Assessment Statement for Establishing (Expanding) Science Parks. Upon Cabinet approval of the aforesaid preparatory plan, the HSPB is ready to move on to such work as environmental impact assessment and land use alteration.
The HSPB has already teamed up with the Taoyuan City government on planning of improvement to Longtan’s external transport links. With regard to land acquisition, the city government is ready to build on its solid track record in this regard to assist in the expropriation process. As such, central and local authorities are ready to work together in helping HSP companies secure the land they need to keep Taiwan’s technology industry competitive and foster better- rounded supply chains.
