Infrastructure Upgrade and Capacity Expansion
1Great Promise of Baoshan Expansion
Status of Baoshan Base Phase I Expansion Project
Against the government commitment to promoting industry innovation, land supply is running out in the HSP—Taiwan’s paramount cluster of technology companies. The Baoshan Base Phase I Expansion Project is thus devised for the Hsinchu Park to host chipmakers’ development of next- generation manufacturing processes and early mass production thereof. In total, 32.73 hectares of land will accommodate tenant companies, housing compounds, and public facilities. To date, subprojects for soil and water conservation facilities, roads, and community and public pipes and lines have been completed.
Overview of Baoshan Base Phase II Expansion Project
To help Taiwan’s semiconductor industry retain its global leadership, another 89.84 hectares of land— 48.18 hectares for industrial use and 3.34 hectares for residential use alongside public facilities and green belts— is set aside for the next expansion project. Construction already began in August 2022 on various subprojects: soil and water conservation and drainage facilities, public pipelines, 20-meter-wide roads and bridges, wastewater processing plants, tap water and recycled water cisterns, West-side community, and landscaping among others. With the development of industrial land also under way simultaneously, all public works subprojects are expected to be completed in June 2026. For its part, the HSPB is set to ensure a well-rounded infrastructure for water and electricity supply and a reliable, safe, and convenient investment environment. Upon completion, this project is expected to create some NT$22 trillion of production value and bring benefits in the form of more jobs and higher income.
