3Ready Students for the Real World
To help tenant companies with their training of fundamental talent, the HSPB undertakes the Subsidy Program for Growing Talent in Science Parks that offers grants to institutions of higher learning in northern Taiwan for the introduction of modular courses and internships of relevance to HSP industries. Faculty is brought in from industry to bridge its gap with academia. Real-life scenarios are made available to help students practice what they have learned in school and put their creativity to the test in the real world, thereby enhancing the professional competence and employability of would- be graduates. In addition to engaging professional instructors from HSP companies and offering lectures, workshops, and internships, this program has been extended far beyond the classroom: competitions, certificate exams, presentations, and assistance in getting employment, publication of papers, and acquisition of patents. Would-be graduates are thus able
to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and build up personal competitiveness early on. At the same time, tenant companies are given an opportunity to seek out competent recruits. In the 2021 and 2022 school years (2021-2022), the HSPB offered a total of NT$17.783 million in subsidies for 12 modular courses and internship programs. A total of 1,014 students benefitted.

4 Permits for Hiring Foreign Talent
As part of its mandate to render one-stop services, the HSPB is entrusted by the Ministry of Labor to issue work permits for foreign professionals employed by tenant
companies to engage in specialized or technical work. In 2022, approval was granted to 297 such cases involving permits for 347 foreign nationals. A list of top 10 home countries for them, with India and Malaysia taking the top and second spots, is as follows:
