5 Industry-Academia-Training Collaboration in the HSP
To formulate an innovation-oriented science park, help share experiences in pursuing innovation and starting businesses, foster industry-academia collaboration, and facilitate access to forward-looking technologies, the HSPB implemented the Program for Promoting Industry-Academia-Training Exchange in the HSP in 2022. High on the agenda was joining forces with neighboring institutions of higher learning, research entities, businesses, and other organizations to promote multilateral cooperation and talent exchanges, inspire applications of critical technologies, and create opportunities for cross-sector partnerships, thereby further enhancing Taiwan’s competitiveness in technology innovation. Cross-sector technology innovation forums and international technology forums were held toward this end.
Of the said cross-sector technology innovation forums, one focus was traffic—not only a priority for

the HSPB but also an issue HSP employees most concerned about. Discussions centered on how best to utilize the HSP’s ICT cluster for attaining AI- enabled smart traffic. Meridigen Biotechnology, ELAN Microelectronics Corp., and Coretronic Corp. shared their big data and AI technologies in ushering in new thinking on traffic management. As such, the R&D capacity of tenant companies greatly contributed to enhancing the efficiency of the HSP’s traffic management and services.
Likewise, an international technology forum was held to address the growing need for precision smart care amid population aging. While Japan is a leading example on this front, Dr. Hidenobu Sumioka was invited to talk about applications of robotics in elderly care. Attendees also pointed to the growing necessity for local industry and medical institutions to usher in smart care applications. Likewise, customized services will be required as smart technologies play a key role in the care industry’s transitional period.
