Research and Development Achievement Awards
Taiwan takes pride in a well-rounded cluster of technology companies. To further consolidate the foundation of Taiwan’s technology industry and enhance its international competitiveness, the HSPB has introduced the Research and Development Achievement Awards with a view to encouraging tenant companies to strengthen R&D and secure patents. Typically the awards ceremony coincides with the HSP’s anniversary celebration. The year 2022 saw two tenant companies walk away with cash rewards totaling NT$800,000.

2Cultivate Talent for Sustainability and Innovation
Talent cultivation is crucial to keeping up national productivity and competitiveness. In line with Taiwan’s technology development strategy and the HSP’s development trends, the HSPB has implemented the Program for Growing Technological Professionals in Science Parks to help HSP employees enhance professional competence and cross-sector capacity and push tenant companies onto a path of sustainable innovation and R&D. Highlights in 2022 include specialized courses (including workshop training) on semiconductor, ICT, and biotechnology industries as well as emerging industries, private sessions, and seminars designed to bolster professional competence and meet corporate needs for quality talent. In conjunction with the HSP’s anniversary celebration, a number of master’s forums were held to have experts from industry and academia share experiences and technological insights through case studies. In particular, three such occasions
featured inspirational lectures given by Academia Sinica academicians Huang Yi-long, Alice Yu, and Lu Chih-yuan who not only offered an update of the latest developments and trends but also made recommendations for Taiwan’s technology policy. In 2022, a total of 286 training sessions spanned 1,854 lecture hours and attracted 8,531 trainees.
