Persist With Environmental Education
Committed to fulfilling social responsibility and promoting sustainable development, the HSP's Wastewater Treatment Plant is keen to help with environmental education. As Taiwan's first wastewater treatment plant to be certified as an environmental education venue in 2013, it has to date devised seven programs centering on such areas as water resources, wastewater treatment, and renewable energy. Of them, the board game-like program “Wastewater No Longer Wasted” has proven a favorite for many. Members of the general public are welcome to apply for one of these mainly hands-on learning opportunities and have fun while learning something new.
In 2022, the HSP's Wastewater Treatment Plant increased the number of visits to neighboring schools so as to foster closer ties with them. Meanwhile, it organized four environmental education sessions for remote schools. As part of the 2022 Labor Safety and Environmental Protection Month campaign, it also joined forces with the Association of Industries in Science Parks to provide holiday sessions. During the year, it hosted a total of 49 environmental education sessions and received 1,377 visitors.
Against an ongoing pandemic, the HSP's Wastewater Treatment Plant teamed up with Tung Men Primary School to organize a remote event: a virtual tour of the plant that allows pupils to take a closer look at how wastewater treatment actually works.

Empowerment Training for Environmental Education
Currently the HSP's Wastewater Treatment Plant has 35 environmental education volunteers. Training is offered to enhance their specialized competences and capacity for devising new courses and delivering narration to visitors. With a focus on comprehending the significance of sustainability and other issues of global concern, two training sessions were organized in 2022 for them to learn more about sustainability education and undertake course design and field work.
To enhance the knowledge and teaching skills of environmental education personnel, the HSP's Wastewater Treatment Plant organized visits to Bali Sewage Treatment Plant and the Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology in 2022. Participants had an opportunity to learn more about how environmental education institutions are to be run. Meanwhile, it signed an agreement with the Taiwan Hakka Museum to work together in promoting environmental education and enhancing the competences of related personnel.
