2Fruits From Growing Startups
With a well-rounded industry cluster and a good number of academic and research institutions in its vicinity, the HSP stands out as an excellent cradle for innovative R&D and startup cultivation—a haven for would-be startups to have their dreams come true. As of the end of 2022, assistance had been extended to 539 would-be startups. Of these, 224 are still in business; 20 are now tenant companies with combined registered capital of NT$5.9 billion.
As the HSP is where Taiwan’s cutting-edge technologies converge, the HSPB is proactive to encourage tenant companies to invest in a sustainable future. Priority is thus given to bringing together the park’s corporate venture capital sector and would-be startups to foster investment, commerce, technological integration, and M&As. In the face of an ongoing pandemic in 2022, the HSPB’s online matchmaking with the HSP’s CVC firms attracted a total of 10 would-be startups.
3International Cooperation and Overseas Expansion
Work Together on Technologies, Share Experiences
The HSPB is a member of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) and the Asian Science Park Association (ASPA). HSPB personnel are sent to their annual conventions to give lectures. Through interacting with other science parks and academic and research institutions, they are also called upon to forge closer partnerships with them and stay up to date with the latest international trends and developments. First elected as ASPA president in 2018 and reelected for a

At the second online workshop in June, the HSPB elaborated on the admittance of new tenant companies and assistance offered in this regard as well as the regulations governing bonded operations. The HSPB went on to share its experiences in infrastructure development, traffic control, and smart monitoring when the two sides met for their third online workshop in August. When an RSTP delegation visited the HSP in October, HSPB Director-General Wayne Wang and RSTP CEO Vumile Dlamini signed an MoU on promoting bilateral cooperation in the technology industry going forward.
