techniques. A commissioned evaluation done by specialists concluded that the Xuanyuan Building, completed in 1986, did not conform to the said requirements and thus recommended that it should be demolished for reconstruction.
Intended to meet the strong demand for rental housing among nonlocal employees in the HSP, the project kicked off on February 3, 2019. With completion slated for March 25, 2021, the new building, with eight stories above the ground and two levels underground, will provide 161 single suites (including three for the disabled), 55 parking spaces for cars (including two for the disabled), and 105 parking spaces for motorcycles (including three for the disabled).
Completion of the Substantial Development Plan for the Baoshan Phase 1 Expansion Project
As industrial land is already largely taken in the HSP, tenant companies that work on R&D and pilot production simply cannot find land for new plants. But it is utterly essential to enable Taiwan’s IC industry to continue growing and stay competitive. As such, suitable land is sought within the HSP’s designated area for expansion. The Executive Yuan, or Cabinet, gave the green light to the project in its letter (Yuan-Tai-Ke-Zi-1070002734) of February 1, 2018. This was followed by its letter (Yuan-Tai- Ke-Zi-1070104584) of September 13, 2018 that approved the acquisition of additional community land. The expansion project is divided into two parts: the first covers a 29.5-hectare lot to the east of Kehuan Road that borders on Lixing 3rd Road and the second, a 3.22-hectare lot to the west of Kehuan Road. Of the combined 32.72 hectares,
18.74 hectares can be made available for industrial use. After the environmental impact statement for this project was submitted to the Environmental Protection Administration for reference on August 27, 2019, the corresponding urban planning change went into effect two days later. At the end of 2019, negotiated purchases of the said land were completed and the first batch of construction contracts were awarded. Meanwhile, tenant companies were given the option of starting to build their plants as well.
Other Projects
1. Renovation of Plant Buildings
A project undertaken to improve fire safety equipment at the Jhunan Park’s phase 1 and 2 standard plant buildings was completed on October 21, 2019. Separately, awnings were added to the dock of the Biotech Building in the Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park. The dock serving the Jhunan Park’s phase 1 standard plant building also underwent similar improvement to facilitate cargo loading and unloading and offer shelter from rain.
2. Renovation of Dorms
For the sake of residential safety and quality, repairs of the recreational trail near the Zhuangjing Building and flower racks by Jingsing Lake were completed on July 13, 2019.
3. Extension of Tongke 6th Road in the Tongluo Park
Completed on February 12, 2019, the 395-meter extension facilitates external access for tenant companies in the southern part of the park.
