In 2022, global industries sustained multiple impacts: the U.S.-China rivalry, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a pandemic yet to run its course, and inflation. Against this hardly favorable backdrop, HSP companies fared reasonably well. Revenues, import and export values, and the number of employees all hit record highs. In particular, the computer/peripherals and telecommunications industries outperformed.
For the technology industry, the cause of reaching net zero by 2050 and the accelerating global competition thus fueled bring both opportunities and challenges. The HSP has long been recognized as a global technology hub. With innovation as the driving force, the HSPB aims to help HSP companies build on existing advantages to identify new sources of growth. Moreover, it is set to help them fulfill corporate social responsibility and create a sustainability-centered corporate culture. The objective is to inspire Taiwan’s technology industry to move up another rung and retain its strategic leadership in the post-pandemic era.
