The Cleaning up the Homeland Campaign 6
In 2019, the HSPB brought its annual community drive under which everyone is invited to join in cleaning up the neighborhood to 12 communities across the Hsinchu Park’s neighboring villages: Xianshui, Keyuan, Jinshan, Xiangong, Gaofeng, and Xinzhuang; the villages of Dingpu and Shanxia around the Jhunan Park; the Tongluo Park’s Jiuhu Village; the villages of Jianye and Nanqiao around the Yilan Park; and the villages of Sanhe, Shengde, and Bade around the Longtan Park. These certainly met with a hearty response among local residents.
Accreditation of the Jingsing Lake Public Lavatory
On December 7, 2019, the Jingsing Lake Public Lavatory in the Hsinchu Park won accreditation of “high distinction” from the Hsinchu City government. On behalf of the HSPB, section chief Chen Chung- li received the honor, which also spares the establishment otherwise more frequent inspection by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Hsinchu City over the next three years. That said, the HSPB remains committed to its upkeep going forward.

Public Art
The HSPB’s Public Art Project for the Longtan and Yilan Parks 2017-2019 drew to a smooth close in 2019 upon installation of the commissioned artworks: three near the intersection of Longyuan 1st Road and Meilong Road in the Longtan Park and one kinetic artwork at the entrance of the Yilan Park. These public artworks not only give the HSP a new appearance but also act as a token of its ongoing migration from the digital age to the smart era.
A brief introduction to the said artworks is as follows:
(1) Yilan Park:
Creativity, Flight, Streaming
Characterized by simplicity and a tech feel, this streamline-shaped work readily inspires associations with digital creativity and information streaming. Also crafted with birds commonly seen in the Yilan Park in mind, it is presented as a linear curve that easily brings to mind an Möbius strip and mimics the flow of water. Its embedded kinetic components react to the surroundings when wind activates changes in LED lighting, thereby making a fitting symbol of infinite possibilities for digital creativity.
(2) Longtan Park
1. Yellow Water Lilly Suite
Taking its lead from a plant unique to Longtan, the work is presented as a number of stools that seemingly float atop the surface of the water, in this case a lawn. Both HSP employees and visitors are welcome to take a break here.
