Awards
The HSPB launched the Research and Development Achievement Awards in 2003. In addition to encouraging HSP companies to strengthen their R&D and acquire patents, thereby protecting their own intellectual property, the initiative is meant to promote Taiwan’s industrial development by raising technology standards. High on the list of screening criteria are the following: R&D spending and manpower as well as their weighting against total revenues and employees, patents secured for technologies or advanced processes developed and the management thereof, core technology R&D, production of core products, and accomplishments in industry-academia collaboration and talent

training. The year 2019 saw three tenant companies walk away with the awards: Realtek Semiconductor Corp., Machvision Inc., and Gwoxi Stem Cell Applied Technology Co., Ltd.
3. Smart Science Park Innovative Applications Awards
To foster innovative applications and help HSP public facilities and services go smart, the HSPB introduced the Smart Science Park Innovative Applications Awards in 2019. The first two winners were Elan Microelectronics Corp. and Coretronic Corp.
